Dog-Friendly Environment
They understand that pets are part of the family, which is why Sykeside is proud to be dog-friendly:
-
Accommodation: Dogs are welcome in the bunkhouse, on the campsite, in the bar and restaurant, and in the shop.
-
Guidelines: To ensure the comfort and safety of all guests, they kindly ask that dogs are kept on a lead and under control, as local wildlife such as sheep and deer can be sensitive to unfamiliar animals.
Commitment to Sustainability
At Sykeside, they are dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of the surroundings through various environmental initiatives:
-
Recycling: They recycle glass, tins, paper, and cardboard materials. Guests are encouraged to sort their waste and utilize the designated bins across the site. While they currently do not have facilities on-site to collect and recycle plastic bottles or cardboard boxes, collection points are available in the nearby large car park next to the Tourist Information Centre. They appreciate your cooperation in recycling these items during your visit.
-
Energy Conservation: Their commitment to sustainability is reflected in the energy practices. The Brotherswater Inn features a new heating system powered solely by a wood-burning stove, efficiently warming the entire ground floor and eliminating the need for an oil-fired boiler. Similarly, the Barn End Bar on the campsite benefits from a wood-burning stove, providing additional warmth. They are also transitioning to low-energy, long-life light bulbs throughout the site and have intentionally minimized outdoor lighting to allow guests to enjoy the stunning night sky. You are kindly requested to help conserve energy by turning off unnecessary lights and avoiding leaving taps running.
Planning Your Visit
They recommend booking your stay in advance, especially during peak seasons and bank holidays, to ensure availability. The online booking system provides a convenient way to secure your preferred accommodation. For detailed information on tariffs, including seasonal rates and additional charges, please contact them.
